A new tram project drawing contest is currently taking place in St. Petersburg

A drawing competition, dedicated to new tram line launch from «Kupchino» metro station to «Slavyanka» microdistrict is currently taking place in St. Petersburg. It will terminate on January 31, 2020. The project website provides a chance for anyone, regardless of the age and without any technical requirements for drawing, to send own drawing, corresponding to the tram theme. Winners will be provided with the awards.

 

The competition «Come up with a tram name», initiated by the project investor - «BaltNedvizhService» comppany, started last week. Petersburg residents actively offer their options: the organizers received several hundred letters in the first days. In addition to the predictable «Pizhik», people send such options as «Slavyanochka», «Shusharik» and follow the «bird» theme, adopted on the railway, for example, «Lark». Several persons offered «Arrow» name.

 

Besides the name contest takes place on tram-express.spb.ru website and will last till January 2020.  The project details, the competition terms and interesting facts about the tram are provided on the competition website in a game form.

 

The concession agreement on the tram network construction along «Kupchino» metro station – «Shushary» village – «Slavyanka» was signed on October 11, 2019 between St. Petersburg and the «BaltNedvizhService» project company («ABZ-1» Group companies and Gazprombank). The new tram line will pass through the Frunzensky and Pushkinsky districts of St. Petersburg and will help to relieve the road network as well as reduce the traffic jams risk during peak hours. The time on the route from «Slavyanka» to «Kupchino» metro will be reduced almost twice, up to 30-35 minutes.
