The demand for the Western high-speed Diameter is growing among motorists

By the end of 2024, another absolute record in terms of traffic flow was recorded at the ZSD – 82 million trips, which demonstrates an increase of 7.9% compared to 2023. Almost 90% of the traffic structure consists of Class 1 vehicles.
According to the ZSD operator, last year, on average, 45 trips along the highway accounted for each car in St. Petersburg, while the vast majority of trips are made with a transponder - 92% of all transactions.
The highest daily traffic of 2024 was recorded on Friday, May 31 – almost 300,000 passes. The maximum monthly traffic flow occurred in August – 7.1 million passes.
The most popular directions were the NAB. Makarova Ring Road South and back, as well as Bogatyrsky Ave. Ring Road South and back, from which it can be concluded that the WSD is in demand for fast movement from the south to the north of the city and in the opposite direction, avoiding transit trips through the center or the Ring Road. As for the least demanded segment of the route, this is Blagodatnaya St.–St. Krasnoputilovskaya, only 0.2% of the traffic.
The ZSD is the country's first intercity high-speed toll highway, created in St. Petersburg through a public-private partnership mechanism. Thanks to the ZSD, the transport impact on objects of historical significance in the central part of the city has been reduced, and round-the-clock communication between the districts has been ensured.

The project is currently actively developing. The construction of the ZSD exits to the Skipper Bayou Street, which is being built in the new location, in the direction of Cash Street, continues.

Recall that in 2024, a new exit ramp of the ZSD transport interchange with Skipersky Protok Street was opened and a working movement was launched along the Vitebsk interchange connecting the ZSD in the area of Blagodatnaya Street with the planned construction stages of the ZSD. In the future, both highways will form a single high-speed traffic system and will become an integral part of the transport framework of the St. Petersburg agglomeration.

At the new interchanges, the unique features of the Freeway are being implemented: a barrier-free fare payment system using modern innovative "Free Flow" technology, saving travel time, and a high level of comfort and safety.
