St. Petersburg's transport projects are presented at the All-Russian Municipal Investment Forum

On April 21 and 22, the All-Russian Municipal Investment Forum is being held in Moscow at the Rossiya National Center as part of the II All-Russian Municipal Forum "Small Motherland - the Strength of Russia." Its purpose is to create a communication platform for dialogue between federal, regional and municipal authorities, as well as for the exchange of experience and best practices in the investment development of territories.
St. Petersburg presented two large-scale investment projects at the forum – the construction of the Latitudinal High-speed Railway and the Slavyanka tram line. Both projects are being implemented on behalf of President Vladimir Putin on the creation of a modern transport system in St. Petersburg, are a priority for the socio-economic development of the Northern Capital and are among the largest infrastructure facilities in Russia under construction through a public-private partnership mechanism.
In accordance with the Master Plan for the Development of St. Petersburg, the SCHMSD with a bridge over the Neva River in the alignment of Faience and Ash Streets, along with the Ring Road and the ZSD, will become one of the main links in the framework of urban highways of high-speed and continuous traffic.
The first stage of the CMMSD, the Vitebsk junction of the WSD– was inaugurated under the leadership of the President of Russia on December 22, 2024. A month earlier, on November 20, within the framework of the International Forum and Exhibition "Transport of Russia", a concession agreement was signed between St. Petersburg and LLC "Latitudinal Highway of the Northern Capital" regarding the financing, creation and operation of 2-4 stages of the CMMSD.
The highway runs from the junction with the ZSD in the area of Blagodatnaya Street, runs inside the industrial belt of the southern planning zone along the northern railway semicircle through the territories of Krasnogvardeisky, Nevsky, Frunzensky, Moskovsky, Kirovsky districts to the junction with the Ring Road and then through the Leningrad region to the city of Vsevolozhsk. The length of the CMMSD in St. Petersburg is 16.7 km, the projected traffic intensity is 70-100 thousand cars per day, the estimated speed is up to 120 km per hour; the toll collection system is "Free flow" (without barriers).
A distinctive feature of the project is the construction of a highway in cramped urban conditions, as well as a large number of artificial structures, including a 462.7-meter-long low-water drawbridge. The implementation of the project will ensure convenient connection of the city center with remote areas and the Leningrad region, reduce the load on the existing road network and save travel time, increase the transport mobility of residents and the accessibility of new residential areas.
Another investment project is the construction of a tram line along the route Kupchino metro station – Shushary village – MKR. Slavyanka will provide the southern districts of St. Petersburg with modern, fast and comfortable tram traffic. It is planned that the new transport artery will be used by at least 13 million passengers per year. The waiting time for the tram at the final stops will be about five minutes, and the duration of the trip from Kupchino metro station to Slavyanka microdistrict by tram will be almost halved, to 30-40 minutes. In the future, the Slavyanka tram line will become the basis for additional transport projects — the creation of routes to the Yuzhny satellite city under construction in the Pushkin district, the new campuses of St. Petersburg State University and ITMO Highpark, and other tram lines in the south of St. Petersburg.
Information about the projects of St. Petersburg is presented on the pages of the official catalog of the forum: https://green-pub.ru/investforum /.
The Forum provides investors with a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the best initiatives of the regions, find new partners, and identify potentially profitable areas for investment.
