A pilot car of the Slavyanka tram line is presented in St. Petersburg

The tram model for the new high-speed line, which is being built in the south of St. Petersburg, was evaluated by Governor Alexander Beglov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev and Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit. The pilot car was presented today at the Nevsky Electric Transport Plant named after F.A. Pirotsky.
The most spacious and advanced model of the three-section two-way carriage 71-932 Nevsky was selected for the Slavyanka line.
"The first ten trams will enter the route immediately after the commissioning of the first section of the line, which will connect Kupchino and Shushary. The planned completion dates for the first stage from Kupchino metro station to the village of Shushary, including the tram depot, are the 4th quarter of 2025," Alexander Beglov said.
The head of the city recalled that the Slavyanka tram line is one of the largest projects in Russia for the construction of a new urban infrastructure for public light rail transport.
The tram is distinguished by the highest level of comfort – a spacious interior with panoramic glazing, 52 ergonomic seats, an improved climate control system, 10 USB sockets, multimedia information systems. The storage area can comfortably accommodate a baby stroller, and there is a special bracket for a bicycle. Heated areas are installed at the entrance doors so that there is no ice at the entrance to the salon in the cold season. LED signal lines are provided on the doors, burning green or red when, respectively, the doors are opened and closed and triggered simultaneously with an audible signal. The tram is adapted for people with disabilities. There is a button to call the driver and an access ramp to the salon. The total passenger capacity is 205 people.
Special attention is paid to traffic safety and operation of the Slavyanka tram line. The interior of the car is made using aluminum alloys, which significantly reduces the degree of fire hazard.
The on-board control controller of the safety system, in case of emergency situations, performs forced automatic braking, making it impossible for the carriage to move. In addition, the automated system provides control of switches, continuous monitoring of the actual speed, control of the safe distance in order to avoid a collision, as well as the output of necessary information to the driver's monitor: diagrams of switch sections, routes, traffic lights, data from video cameras.
For the convenience of the driver, all the most frequently used buttons are placed on the armrest, and information about the technical condition of the tram, including data from video cameras, is sent to the updated remote control.
The tram of the Slavyanka line received a special design: the combination of orange and turquoise colors is a distinctive feature of the project. Turquoise – a fusion of green and light blue colors - on the one hand emphasizes the peculiarity of the tram as the most environmentally friendly mode of transport, and on the other - refers to the maritime history of St. Petersburg. Orange is an accent color, makes the image of the brand lively, deep and warm, visually demonstrates the bright energy of the project, resembles the color of the rising and setting sun, thereby demonstrating that the Slavyanka tram will serve passengers from early morning until late evening.
In the near future, the first train will be handed over to the concessionaire for inspection and acceptance into the series, in winter the car will move to a new depot in Shushary for commissioning, first tests and integration of the on-board tram systems into an automated line traffic control system.
A total of 22 wagons will be produced under the contract. According to calculations, at least 13 million passengers a year will use the new transport artery, the travel time from Kupchino metro station to Slavyanka microdistrict will be halved.
