Russia`s competitivenss rating rose by 6 points

In an investigation carried out by the Swiss study group IMD in 2013, Russia’s rating rose by 6 points as compared to last year. In the list of competitive countries Russia stands 42 nd among 60.

The countries’ competitiveness was evaluated based on four criteria: macroeconomic situation, efficiency of state control, condition of infrastructure and productivity of business. Russia’s rise in the rating was largely due to the macroeconomic factors. Other parameters demonstrated unchanged steadiness.

Last year’s top three in the rating, the US, Switzerland and Hong-Kong, reconfirmed their positions.

“The growth of Russia’s competitiveness by 6 points due to the macroeconomic factors testifies to the general growth of Russia’s investment attractiveness to the world at large. The results of the universally recognized international ratings reliably characterize the conditions in and dynamics of the investment environment in terms of business,” commented Irina Babyuk, chairman of St Petersburg Investments Committee.
