On the "zero" day of SPIEF-2025, a symbolic pile of new stages of the SMSD was installed.

Today, Governor Alexander Beglov held a working meeting with the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit. It took place as part of an off-site event dedicated to the symbolic start of the construction of 2-4 stages of the Latitudinal High-Speed Highway (LMS). The issues of financing the CMMSD project and the details of the concession agreement were discussed.
"The city, with the active support of the federal government and with the involvement of non-governmental funds, is systematically working to fulfill the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, who set specific tasks for the development of the entire transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg in 2021.‑St. Petersburg agglomeration. For optimal use of regional and federal budget funds, it is advisable to include the Latitudinal Highway in the list of events of national importance," Alexander Beglov noted during the meeting.
SMSD is a megaproject included in the program "10 priorities for the development of St. Petersburg". In accordance with the Master Plan of the city, the SCHMSD with the bridge over the Neva River is one of the main links in the framework of the city's high-speed and continuous traffic highways along with the Western High-speed Dimeter and Ring Road. The commissioning of the entire highway is scheduled for 2031.
The Governor and the Minister also discussed a project supported by the President of Russia to create a tourism cluster "St. Petersburg‑Petersburg Marina" and related infrastructure development issues. In particular, it is necessary to build an overpass across the railway tracks of the Sestroretsk direction from Gorskaya to Vladimirsky Avenue with a length of over two kilometers. It is also necessary to reconstruct the Primorsky Highway with the construction of an overpass through a railway with a length of almost three kilometers. The project documentation for these facilities is currently under development.
