A new project for the construction of an overpass in the alignment of Salova Street has become one of the priorities

One of the important directions for improving the transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg is the construction of overpasses across railway tracks. This conclusion was reached by the participants of the meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Development of the Transport System of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, which took place on November 8, 2024, under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev.
There are more than 45 intersections on the same level with railway tracks on the territory of St. Petersburg, which creates a tense situation when ensuring the joint movement of vehicles and railway communication facilities.
According to Governor Alexander Beglov, the Government of St. Petersburg has defined a list of five overpasses in areas with high traffic intensity. In accordance with the objectives of the state policy in the field of planning the development of the St. Petersburg transport complex, the overpass in the Salova Street alignment through the Moscow railway tracks in the Frunzensky and Nevsky districts is one of the highest priorities. The governor also noted that the city is counting on the support of the federal center in the implementation of this pilot project and proposed to include it in the six-year plan.
The overpass will be a continuation of the new transport highway in the alignment of Bolshoy Smolensky Prospekt and will become part of the latitudinal connection from Blagodatnaya Street to Energetikov Avenue. The facility is planned as a six-lane second-class road with an estimated speed of 80 km/h.
