St. Petersburg's investment projects are aimed at strengthening ties with the regions

On October 10, within the framework of the XXII All-Russian Forum "Strategic Planning in the regions and cities of Russia", a panel session "Interregional cooperation as a driver of sustainable development of the country's economy" was held. Ivan Skladchikov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Investment Committee, took part in the discussion. The moderator was Dmitry Panov, Chairman of the relevant investment Commission of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
"In 2024, we are recording trends towards an increase in investment activity - according to the results of the first half of the year, the volume of investments in fixed assets is already 26% higher than in the same period last year. St. Petersburg confirms its high investment attractiveness and interest in working with investors, including in the field of interregional cooperation. The Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, sets the task of developing our city as a megalopolis of the XXI century, and within the framework of this development, cooperation with the regions is one of the key factors for mutual strengthening of our potentials and opportunities," Ivan Skladchikov noted.
At the same time, as the chairman of the St. Petersburg Investment Committee stressed, in order to strengthen cooperation, it is necessary to synchronize actions in the transport sector. Together with the Leningrad Region, St. Petersburg is working on a large-scale project for the construction of a high-speed Latitudinal highway. The first stage, the Vitebsk interchange, will be introduced at the end of 2024. By 2030, the SMSD will create a new logistics framework linking St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. And in the future, the expressway will become part of an updated transport corridor to Karelia, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and other regions.
Ivan Skladchikov also emphasized that St. Petersburg is developing not only interregional, but also international logistics ties. The strategic investment project for the construction of a new rear sea terminal in the port of Bronka, which started this year, is intended to play a significant role in this. The project is aimed at strengthening the transit potential of our city, strengthening cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, including to attract investments in priority sectors of the economy of St. Petersburg and the Northwestern Federal District.
The Pulkovo airport development project, implemented at the expense of the investor, will make St. Petersburg even more accessible and attractive for guests and tourists. Pulkovo is Russia's second air hub in terms of passenger traffic and a leader in the use of innovative technologies aimed at improving the quality of service. After the implementation of the second stage of the Pulkovo development, the planned capacity of the terminal and airfield infrastructure of the airport will be about 40 million passengers per year.
The project of the all-season seaside resort "St. Petersburg Marina" is aimed at increasing the tourist attractiveness of the Northern capital. Moreover, the resort in Gorskaya, created within the framework of the national Tourism and Hospitality Industry project, will become part of the interregional master plan scheme "From Moscow to St. Petersburg" and will give a new impetus to travel across the regions.
As Dmitry Panov noted, St. Petersburg is not only the largest cultural and industrial center of Russia, but also a place of attraction for "smart" investments. Regional cooperation contributes to the common cause of achieving technological sovereignty and technological security.
The session was attended by representatives of the Republic of Karelia, the Republic of Mari El, Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod and Murmansk regions, as well as the Republic of Belarus.
The participants shared the best practices of the development of their regions and discussed promising areas and projects for further cooperation.
