Results of SPIEF-2024: investments attracted in priority areas of St. Petersburg development

The volume of investments attracted within the framework of SPIEF 2024 has doubled compared to last year. Record-breaking investment volumes in terms of their scale, coverage of the territory, and prospects were achieved, among other things, thanks to comprehensive business support measures implemented in St. Petersburg on behalf of Governor Alexander Beglov. Within the framework of the forum, St. Petersburg signed 69 agreements worth 1 trillion 227 billion rubles, including almost 1 trillion 132 billion rubles attracted agreements accompanied by the St. Petersburg Investment Committee. "Together with investors at the SPIEF site, we have laid new foundations for the future successful development of our city in priority areas. St. Petersburg has fully demonstrated its openness to innovation and its leadership potential in the field of high technology and scientific research, education and culture," said Ivan Skladchikov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Investment Committee. The exposition and business zone "Technologies open to the World" was designed at the stand of the Northern Capital with the concept of St. Petersburg - the city of the future with a great cultural and historical heritage. Presentation videos prepared by the Investment Committee told the guests of the forum about large-scale infrastructure projects that are being implemented in St. Petersburg with the support of the President of Russia and aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens. The tourist cluster "Gorskaya", the tram network "Kupchino – Shushary – Slavyanka", ITMO "Highpark" were presented on interactive layouts. The forum participants were impressed by the most important points of the city's growth — the Island of Forts and the satellite city Yuzhny. The stand of St. Petersburg entered the top of the most popular at the forum – it was visited by about 20 thousand people from more than 100 countries of the world. The investment agreements reached at SPIEF 2024 covered almost all key areas of the city's life. High technology The topic of digitalization and the development of high technologies is reflected in the agreements signed by St. Petersburg on the construction of data storage and processing centers. ITMO Highpark agreements on the development of a pilot zone for the introduction of robotics technologies will serve to fulfill one of the President's instructions — the formation of a Technological Valley. These investment projects will also help solve the problems associated with the transition to domestic technologies and equipment. Healthcare In pursuance of the President's instructions on the creation of a network of modern university campuses in Russia at SPIEF 2024, an agreement was signed on the creation of a new clinical campus of St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University in the satellite city of Yuzhny with advanced conditions and opportunities for study, research, residence and work of students. The project will be implemented with the participation of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Culture Cooperation between St. Petersburg and PJSC VTB Bank, which supports large and significant cultural projects in the city, has reached a new level. The parties signed an agreement of intent on the implementation of the construction project of a concert and theater complex in St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg. Sport With the participation of the investor "Ice Palaces" LLC, a solid sports infrastructure facility will appear in the Vyborg district of the city - a new universal indoor complex "Kasatonov Hockey School". Tourism The high level of agreements in the field of tourism and sports infrastructure development in St. Petersburg is evidenced by the agreement signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko between the city, JSC "Corporation Tourism of the Russian Federation", JSC "Gazprombank" and the St. Petersburg regional sports public organization "Yacht Club of St. Petersburg" on the creation of a tourist cluster"St. Petersburg Marina" within the framework of the federal project for the creation of year-round seaside resorts "Five Seas and Lake Baikal". The future all-season resort is designed to make a great contribution to achieving the goals of the national Tourism and Hospitality Industry project. The estimated tourist flow to Gorskaya will amount to 1.33 million people per year. The "Island of Forts" in Kronstadt An important part of the SPIEF 2024 business program was the agreements of the ANO "Island of Forts", signed at the stand of St. Petersburg and aimed at further development of the tourist and recreational cluster in Kronstadt. The topics of the new agreements cover the creation of a museum exposition on the fight against infectious diseases at the fort "Emperor Alexander I"; the organization of filming of the TV show "Fort Boyard"; the construction of a four-star hotel; the creation of the All-Russian Center for Maritime Professions. Moreover, the cooperation of the ANO "Island of Forts" with the All-Russian public organization "Russian Geographical Society" will serve to study the geographical, ethnocultural and historical identity of Russia. Integrated development of territories Within the framework of the forum, a comprehensive development of the territory located in the historical district of St. Petersburg was launched. The investor plans to build a business management facility – a business center, which will serve to expand the modern business infrastructure of the Nevsky district. Transport and logistics In the field of transport and logistics infrastructure development, intentions have been fixed with the strategic investor of St. Petersburg to create a rear sea terminal to provide services for transshipment of container, bulk and general cargo to road and rail transport. The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of the ports of the Gulf of Finland, including the rear capacities of the port infrastructure of MMPC Bronka. Investment climate The results of the national rating of the investment climate in 2024, presented by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, became good news at the SPIEF. St. Petersburg improved its position in the National Ranking and took fifth place. "St. Petersburg attracts steady interest from investors. On behalf of Governor Alexander Beglov, we continue to improve their working conditions. The Regional Investment Standard has been fully implemented, investment legislation is being improved – changes are being made to meet the current needs of our city's economy. The investment block of the Government of St. Petersburg is working on those projects that form the Northern Capital as a region of the future, a metropolis of the XXI century," Ivan Skladchikov summed up the forum. It should be noted that it is the SPIEF that brings billions of dollars of investments to the city. In previous years, documents on the implementation of such global projects as the ZSD, the new terminal of Pulkovo Airport, ITMO-Highpark, the Kupchino — Shushary — Slavyanka tram line and others were signed at the forums. Today, these projects have become part of the life of modern St. Petersburg.
