The boundaries of the work on the construction of a new bridge as part of the CMMSD have been agreed.

The project for the construction of a drawbridge as part of a high-speed Latitudinal Highway has received a conclusion from the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of St. Petersburg on compliance with the protection zone regimes. The document confirms the absence of identified cultural heritage sites, as well as a protective zone of cultural heritage sites within the boundaries of the bridge construction works.
A drawbridge across the Neva River is planned in the alignment of Fayansovaya and Zolnaya streets. The construction of the bridge is included in stage 4.1 - from the transport hub at the intersection with Glukhoozerskoe Highway on the left and from 2nd Luch Street on the right, then along the northern railway semicircle, at the intersection with Neva to the transport interchange at the intersection with Soyuzny Prospekt.
The new bridge is low-water. The need to minimize the construction height of the bridge is due to the location of the Finnish Railway Bridge, a historical and cultural monument of regional importance nearby. Due to specially thought-out architectural structures, the new SCHMSD bridge will visually merge with the exterior of the Finnish Railway Bridge, without disturbing the panoramic views, including cultural heritage sites in the immediate vicinity.
At the same time, the SCHMSD bridge will have its own unique difference: the longest movable span wing of a single-wing drop-down system is 60.1 meters. As part of the six-lane expressway, with three lanes in each direction, each of the swing spans will rise as an independent structure, taking into account the direction of travel.
Another exceptional feature of the SCHMSD bridge is that it will have the largest navigable dimension of 55 meters, while the lifting/guiding time of the huge draw span will be about three minutes.
The length of the bridge, excluding approaches, will be 462.7 meters.
The signing of the concession agreement for the construction of stages 2-4 of the CMMSD took place in Moscow on November 20, 2024, as part of the International Forum and Exhibition "Transport of Russia". The planned start date for construction is spring 2025.
