An open competition will determine the best public space project in Tauride Garden

The new public space project should become one of the most attractive one in St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, St. Petersburg Acting Governor said within a visit to the Tauride Garden abandoned greenhouses.

The tender documentation development for the territory reconstruction and further use with a total area of ​​2.7 hectares within «Tauride Garden with a pond» federal significance cultural heritage object boundaries will be completed by the termination of September. An open competition will determine the best project while the city will sign a concession agreement with the investor.

The goal is to create a multifunctional and modern public space where greenhouses, venues for exhibitions and fairs, creative workshops, a hall for concerts, theater performances and film screenings, food courts will be placed within St. Petersburg residents’ interests, as it was emphasized during St. Petersburg government member visit.

The dilapidated greenhouses on «Tauride Garden» territory were built in the late 1970s, and have been closed to the public for several decades. In the spring of 2019, the Ginza Project holding presented Tauride Garden abandoned greenhouses reconstruction concept and applied to the Investment Committee with a proposal to sign a concession agreement for the current facility reconstruction and operation. The city government made a decision relatively to an opportunity to sign a concession agreement for the project implementation.
