The innovative scientific and technological center "Nevsky Delta" will be created in St. Petersburg

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the establishment of the innovative scientific and technological center "Nevsky Delta".

The document establishes the main activities of the center: environmental and energy security, advanced oil and gas technologies, green and agrobiotechnology, pharmaceuticals and genetic technologies, digitalization of production, creation of new devices and materials.

At SPIEF 2021, the city signed an agreement of intent with St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg State University in order to implement the project of the innovative scientific and technological center "Nevsky Delta" on the territory of the Pushkin district.

"St. Petersburg has prepared everything necessary for the full implementation of the decree of the Russian Government and the launch of this project. The development of such technologies will have a positive impact on the city's economy. The new center will also contribute to the achievement of the most important tasks of ensuring the technological and scientific sovereignty of the country. The President of Russia has set these goals for us," said Governor Alexander Beglov.

Nevsky Delta is planned as part of the integrated project "St. Petersburg State University Development Territory", which provides for the construction of laboratories and pilot plants on the future university campus. Together with ITMO Highpark and the Maritime Technical University, the new St. Petersburg State University Center will enter the Technological Valley in the Southern Planning Zone of St. Petersburg.

It is assumed that by 2038, the resident organizations of the Nevsky Delta will create more than 7.4 thousand jobs, where highly qualified specialists will work. Thus, the center's activities will ensure that the city's economy needs competent personnel and innovative developments for high-tech, knowledge-intensive industries.

The project to create the innovative scientific and technological center "Nevsky Delta" corresponds to the priorities of the Concept of scientific and technological development of St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg for the period up to 2030.

The planned amount of funding for the creation of the Nevsky Delta is estimated at almost 60 billion rubles.
