A new school built by an investor opens its doors to students

Governor Alexander Beglov held a visiting meeting today in the new building of school No. 219 on Patriotov Avenue in Krasnoselsky district.
Classes in the three-storey building of the new school will begin on March 31 for 550 students, and on September 1 their number will double. The opening of the new building will allow the school to completely abandon the shifted schedule of studies.
"We didn't have to wait for the start of the next school year. The builders did everything possible to ensure that some of the students from the existing school moved here on Monday. It is important to unload it as soon as possible and bring the training schedule back to normal," said Alexander Beglov.
The school on Patriotov Ave. is one of five public secondary schools built in St. Petersburg with the participation of investors under the mechanism of concession agreements.
Four more schools will also start accepting their first students on Monday, March 31. This is a school in Vasileostrovsky district (Morskaya embankment, 5, p. 1) for 1,375 seats; in Vyborgsky district (village of Pargolovo, Tolubeevsky passage, 18, building 2, building 1) - for 550 seats; in Pushkin (Cameronovskaya St., 10, building 2, building 1) - for 550 seats; in Nevsky district (Rusanovskaya St., 18, building 5, p. 1) - for 1,375 seats.
The equipment of the schools meets the most modern federal state standards. In particular, comfortable classrooms, laboratory rooms, computer labs, workshops and technology rooms, medical facilities, recreation rooms for teachers and children, libraries, gyms have been created in the new buildings, as well as two swimming pools, one large and one small, are provided in each school. There are playgrounds for sports and recreation for students on school grounds, and spaces for school-wide events in the courtyards of buildings.
In addition, School No. 219 has three cadet classes. The facilities for them are specially equipped for the development of additional programs for pre-conscription and fire training. The science classes also received their own equipment.
In March 2022, five St. Petersburg educational institutions' projects were selected by the Russian Ministry of Education for co-financing. The implementation of these projects was included in the federal project "Modern School" and the national project "Education", as well as in the state program "Development of Education in St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg". The construction of the schools started in 2023 and was successfully completed by investors at the end of 2024. The objects were transferred to the ownership of St. Petersburg.
In 2024, the school construction project at 20 Patriotov Ave., building 1, accompanied by the St. Petersburg Investment Committee, was among the TOP 20 finalists of the all-Russian MARCH social infrastructure competition.
