A delegation from South Africa visited the ITMO Highpark construction site

During the BRICS International Forum, which was held in St. Petersburg from October 29 to 31, a delegation from South Africa visited the ITMO Highpark construction site, where the contractor company is building the engineering and transport infrastructure of the new ITMO University campus.
The delegation included Jack Sequaila, Head of the Johannesburg Mayor's Committee responsible for environmental protection and infrastructure, Ntshaveni Mukweh, Managing Director of the state water supply company Johannesburg Water, and Majawu Dineo, Chairman of the Board of the Johannesburg Water Company.
The guests visited the local sewage treatment plants installed on the territory of the scientific and educational center under construction. Experts from the contractor and equipment manufacturer spoke about the specifics of the design and construction of wastewater treatment plants at the facility and showed the completed facilities of the first stage of construction. These are engineering communications, including water supply, sanitation, gas supply, electricity, communication networks and heating networks.
As part of the project, work has been completed on the construction of the street and road network of the ITMO Highpark territory: the builders have laid almost two kilometers of roadway with sidewalks, lawns and bike paths, and completed two temporary turning rings. Street lights have also been installed, and networks necessary for lighting roads have been installed. ITMO Highpark provides a large amount of landscaping. The total area of lawns is 25.5 thousand square meters. meters.
In 2026, it is planned to build an abutment to the Kiev Highway, which will connect internal roads with the main road network of St. Petersburg.
The project is being implemented as part of one of the 10 priorities of St. Petersburg's socio-economic development — Science and New Technologies.
