    The Chizhik tram network, together with the libraries of the Krasnogvardeysky district, launched a local history project

    The concessionaire of the Chizhik tram network project, the Transport Concession Company, and the libraries of the Krasnogvardeysky district, with the support of the district administration, launched a new cultural and educational project - a series of thematic audio tours along the routes of the Chizhik tram. This is a large—scale "library on rails", where a tram ride becomes an event, and passengers listen to live stories about the Great Patriotic War, architecture and urban folklore of the Krasnogvardeysky district.
    "St. Petersburg transport is being integrated into the cultural environment of the city. It becomes not only convenient, but also smart. The Library on Rails project is a good example of how modern technology and a sincere love for the history of the district combine to educate. Now a trip on the Chizhik gives you the opportunity to learn more about the feat of Leningrad, about famous countrymen, or just listen to fairy tales with the whole family. Such initiatives make the urban environment truly friendly and interesting to people," said Governor Alexander Beglov.
    The project turns ordinary trips into immersive trips. Each route is accompanied by an audio playlist that you can start listening to from any stop. The tours were voiced by famous Petersburgers: Alexander Druz, Anastasia Melnikova, Leonid Petrov, Dmitry Karanevsky.
    Four tour topics correspond to the four routes of the Chizhik:
    • No. 64 "Victory Road": the history of the Road of Life, the Rzhevsky line of defense of Leningrad, the tram line over the anti-tank moat, the memorial sign "Operation Iskra" and the memorial to the victims of the explosion on March 29, 1942;
    • No. 63 "Charm of new buildings": architecture of the Rzhevka-Porokhovye -trefoil houses quarter, the residential area on Osipenko Street and other facilities built in 2000-2025;
    • No. 59 "Flight of Inspiration": streets named after Polina Osipenko, Alexey Kosygin, Andrey Potapov; stories of famous residents of the district and our contemporaries, whose daily work helps to create the metropolis of the 21st century;
    • No. 8 "Fabulous journey": a family route combining urban legends, folklore and fairy tales of the peoples of Russia in the context of the history of the Krasnogvardeysky district.
    Every passenger can participate in the excursions. To do this, read the QR code in the carriage or at the tram stop and turn on the playlist on the appropriate route.
    The Chizhik tram network is Russia's first concession project in the field of urban rail transport. The full commissioning of all four routes of the Sept network was carried out in September 2019. More than 19 million people are transported by Chizhik trams every year.
