Construction of the first stage of the Yuzhny satellite city has started

The first block will be formed by four residential buildings with a height of six to nine floors, a kindergarten for 160 pupils, a general practitioner's office, a police station, a fire station and a boiler room. In the second quarter, eight residential buildings with a height of up to 10 floors will be built, where about five thousand people will be able to live. A school for 1,125 students and a kindergarten for 200 children will be built in the same block. According to an agreement with the city, the project provides for the reconstruction of school No. 607 in the Pushkin district. There will be an elementary school and a kindergarten with 200 and 120 places, respectively.
Moreover, as part of the first stage of Yuzhny, a house of technical creativity for children, the quantorium, with 600 beds, a polyclinic for adults and children with a total of 340 visits per shift with an ambulance station for two cars, and a sports club with a swimming pool are planned. Public spaces, boulevards and squares, and commercial facilities will appear on the territory.
The entire first stage of residential construction in the satellite city of Yuzhny occupies an area of 78 hectares and is adjacent to the ITMO Highpark, a world-class scientific, educational and innovation center under construction, which is a city-forming element of the satellite city. The 86-hectare ITMO Highpark will consist of a campus for undergraduates and postgraduates and a Technology Valley with a business park for technology companies. By the time the first residential stage of the Yuzhny satellite city is completed, it is planned to put into operation the campus, the student club and the first stage of the ITMO Highpark dormitories.
The Yuzhny satellite City is a strategic investment project of St. Petersburg. In accordance with the General Plan of the city, it is planned to create a tram line to the satellite city of Yuzhny and ITMO Khayprak. The Slavyanka line will become the basis for the implementation of a large-scale project that will provide the southern districts of St. Petersburg with modern tram traffic.
