The Slavyanka tram line will be a significant step towards improving the city's transport network

On a direct line with the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, an important project was discussed that will significantly improve the city's transport infrastructure - the Slavyanka tram line.
"We plan to launch a tram to Shushar in the 4th quarter of 2025, and to Slavyanka in 2026. Approximately 13 million passengers will use this route annually," the Governor said on a direct line.
The project is aimed at improving transport accessibility and convenience for residents of the southern districts of the city, as well as reducing the burden on other types of public transport.
The creation of a new tram line will be a significant step towards improving the urban transport network as a whole, reducing the travel time from Kupchino metro station to Slavyanka to 30-40 minutes, which is twice as fast as the current travel time.
Slavyanka will be 21 km long and include 3 bridges, 4 overpasses, a tram depot, and convenient bus shelters. The waiting time at the final stops will be about 5 minutes.
Currently, there is an active construction of overpasses through the railway tracks of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, Vitebsk and Moskovsky Avenues, the railway tracks of the Southern Semicircle of the Oktyabrskaya Railway and the Ring Road. Bridges are being built across the Volkovka and Slavyanka rivers, and work on the sewerage of the Volkovsky Canal is coming to an end. Work continues at the intersection of Vilerovsky Lane and Novgorodsky Prospekt in Shushary, where the tram will enter the village from the overpass. The upper structure of the tramway is laid on Starorussky Prospekt. The construction of a complex of buildings and structures of the future tram depot is underway, rails are being laid at the depot site, construction and preparation for installation of equipment are underway.
In the future, based on the Slavyanka tram line, the possibility of creating new routes to the Technological Valley under construction in the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg is being considered.
