St. Petersburg has entered the top ranking of the most favorable megacities in Russia for living according to the urban environment quality index

The Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation named the most comfortable million-plus cities for the population in 2023. According to the urban environment Quality index, St. Petersburg took the second place, scoring 270 points. According to the Ministry of Construction, the index of the Northern Capital increased by 11% compared to 2019.

Recall that the urban environment quality index was developed in 2019 by the Ministry of Construction and is a tool for monitoring and evaluating the quality of the urban environment, as well as conditions for creating a favorable life for the population.

The assessment indicators are the level of safety, accessibility of social facilities, the level of landscaping, the quality of transport and many others that determine the degree of comfortable living in the city.

Based on the results of the index, the national project "Housing and Urban Environment" is being formed and implemented, which makes it possible to increase the standard of living of citizens, take measures to solve problems, improve the urban environment and help attract tourists.

St. Petersburg, within the framework of the Housing and Urban Environment project, has achieved high results in landscaping and development of the territory thanks to such projects as the museum and historical park "Island of Forts" in Kronstadt, which became the winner of the All-Russian award, the year-round seaside resort "Gorskaya" on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, the largest ice stadium in the world "SKA-Arena", a high-speed latitudinal highway that will ensure the creation of an effective road network of the St. Petersburg agglomeration and others.
