The city coordinates the urban planning documentation for the construction of the CMMSD

At a working meeting between Governor Alexander Beglov and members of the city government, changes were approved to the draft layout of the Latitudinal Highway from Vitebsk Avenue to Soyuz Avenue.
"The construction of a high-speed Latitudinal Highway is one of the megaprojects implemented by the city on behalf of the President of Russia. At the end of last year, we completed the first stage — we opened traffic at the Vitebsk interchange. The travel time from the Moskovsky district to Frunzensky has decreased significantly," said Alexander Beglov.
The mayor called the second stage of the CMMSD construction the "most difficult" section of the entire project.
"The length will be almost 7 kilometers. Three interchanges and a drawbridge will be built on it," the Governor stressed. — I thank all the builders of the Latitudinal highway. We've picked up a good pace. It is important to preserve it."
For the construction of the highway from Vitebsk to Soyuzny Prospekt with a bridge over the Neva River, it was necessary to make changes to the urban planning documentation related to design decisions.
The construction of the future highway will form new transport links between the right and left banks of the Neva River. There will be a high-speed automobile bypass of the center of St. Petersburg, a direct connection between the eastern and southern parts of the metropolis will be provided, and the load on the southern section of the ring road will decrease.
In addition, as part of the preparation of the territory for the construction of the SCHMSD, on March 3, 2025, the FAA Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive opinion on the design and estimate documentation for the reconstruction of the main gas supply and distribution networks in the area from Soyuzny Prospekt to the Ring Road. For the speedy construction of the CMMSD, the reconstruction of the main gas supply and gas distribution networks owned by Gazprom was allocated to a separate design sub-stage.
