Turquoise asphalt concrete appeared at the final stop of the Slavyanka tram line

On December 1, construction workers laid 59 tons of turquoise asphalt concrete at the Balkansky terminus of the Slavyanka tram line. Previously, 29 tons of orange asphalt concrete were laid here. Thanks to the implementation of the project, a color coating appeared at a bus stop in St. Petersburg for the first time.

The colors were chosen for a reason: turquoise emphasizes the environmental friendliness of the tram as a mode of transport and refers to the marine style of St. Petersburg. Orange resembles the color of the rising and setting sun, demonstrating that the Slavyanka tram will serve passengers from early morning until late evening.

The colored coating will increase passenger safety, serve for convenient navigation and aesthetic transformation of urban space.

The technology of colored asphalt concrete was developed and implemented for the first time in the road construction of St. Petersburg by the ABZ-1 group of companies participating in the Slavyanka tram line construction project.

It should be noted that with the help of colored asphalt concrete, special traffic zones are allocated in the city – bicycle and pedestrian paths, parking lots. Replacing the usual gray asphalt with colored asphalt is a way to create a thoughtful urban environment where the color palette helps residents navigate comfortably in space.

As part of the project, the construction of a covered bus shelter is being completed on Balkan Square: the roof is being installed and the slabs are being concreted, which will later be equipped with turnstiles for passengers to enter and exit.

In Shushary, from the depot to Vilerovsky Lane, the rolling of wagons along Starorussky Avenue began. Constant voltage to the contact network of the tram line will be applied on December 3.

The new line construction project is being implemented as part of one of the 10 priorities for the development of St. Petersburg — "Convenient public transport".

    For reference:

In 2025, the ABZ-1 group of companies produced over 500 tons of colored asphalt mixtures. Over the past 10 years, the company has laid colored asphalt concrete at 50 sites in St. Petersburg, including the Yacht Bridge, the Bip Castle in Pavlovsk, the Krasnoe Selo State Museum of Fine Arts, the Bolshaya Nevka Embankment, and others.

The construction and operation of the Kupchino – Shushary – Slavyanka tram line is one of the largest concession projects in the field of public light rail transport in Russia.

The key characteristics of the tram line are: 21 km - the length of the track, 24 stops, 22 cars, seven bridges and overpasses, 5 minutes - the travel interval.
