    Supports for the second stage of the CMMSD overpasses have begun to be erected on Vitebsk Avenue.

    At the same time, the construction of overpass supports of the second stage of the Latitudinal High-Speed Highway (LMSD) began on Vitebsk Avenue on both sides of the road and the railway tracks. The work is deployed in such a way as to speed up the process: while piles are being drilled and concreted on one side, foundations for future supports are already being poured on the other.
    "The construction of supports for the second stage of the CMMSD overpasses has been launched on Vitebsk Avenue. The most difficult section runs over a busy highway and railway tracks. As part of the megaproject, there will be 16 overpasses and overpasses, as well as 7 exits combined into two major interchanges. The highway will provide a direct connection of the Moskovsky and Frunzensky districts to the high-speed transport network of the city. This will change the transport accessibility of entire districts and give a new impetus to the development of the south-east of St. Petersburg," said Governor Alexander Beglov.
    In the block between the streets of Parkovaya, Zastavskaya and Vitebsk Avenue, specialists are laying the foundation for an overpass that will run over the avenue. Drilling piles with diameters of 1.2 and 1.5 meters are used here, and grillings are also formed — reinforced concrete "caps" that will combine the piles and transfer the load from the future overpass. To date, 92 piles have been completed, and four grillings have been fully concreted. The total volume of concrete laid has already reached about 4 thousand cubic meters.
    "The second stage of the CMMSD is a large—scale and technically intensive site. Almost two kilometers of the highway pass over a lively urban area, intersect a busy avenue and two railway branches at once. The foundation for 21 pillars is already ready, static tests are underway. Ahead is the installation of superstructures, and with it the direct connection of the Moskovsky and Frunzensky districts with the rest of the city," said Mikhail Fokin, Director of Construction at the Northern Capital Latitudinal Highway, LLC, a concessionaire company.
    After the concrete gains strength, the piles are tested: they are pressed with a load of up to 435 tons, simulating the weight of the future structure. Two supports have already successfully passed this test.
    In parallel, on the other side of the Vitebsk railway tracks, next to the Aeronautical Park station, the first 20 piles were filled in to support the new section of the highway.
    "In order to shorten the construction period, the general contract provides for a parallel construction regime, a method in which the construction of basic structures is carried out simultaneously with the preparation of the construction site. For this purpose, more than 300 personnel and 50 units of specialized equipment, including 5 drilling rigs, are involved in the construction. This approach will make it possible to achieve peak indicators of construction progress sooner," said Alexander Dmitrishin, head of the SCHMSD project, Deputy General Director of Bamtunelstroy-Most JSC. 
    The key facilities of the second stage include an overpass and an interchange through Vitebsk Avenue and railway tracks, an overpass through Bukharestskaya Street and the tracks of Volkovskaya station, as well as an interchange at the intersection with Sofiyskaya Street.
    It should be recalled that the general contract agreement with Bamtunelstroi-Most JSC for the construction of stages 2, 3 and 4.2 of the SCHMSD was signed by the concessionaire of the project, LLC SCHMSS, on March 11, 2026, and the construction permit for the second stage of the SCHMSD was issued by Gosstroynadzor of St. Petersburg on March 18, 2026.
