Vice‑Governor of St. Petersburg Nikolai Linchenko inspected the progress of construction of the second stage of the Slavyanka tram line.

The Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg paid a working visit.‑Nikolai Linchenko from St. Petersburg to the construction sites of the second stage of the tram line along the route Kupchino metro station – Shushary village – mkr. Slavyanka." The event was attended by Ivan Skladchikov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Investment Committee, Andrey Chapurov, head of the Administration of the Pushkinsky District of St. Petersburg, representatives of the concessionaire company and the general contractor responsible for the construction of the tram line.
"The creation of modern tram networks is one of the key areas of priority for Convenient Public Transport. The “Slavyanka” line project in the Pushkinsky District is an important step towards improving the quality of life and comfort for St. Petersburg residents. The line is in demand among residents, and this is proven by the results of its operation: over the first seven months, the passenger traffic at the first stage amounted to more than 2.2 million people. The average daily passenger traffic on weekdays is over 11,000, and on weekends — over 9,000 people. I am confident that after the second stage is put into operation, the line will once again demonstrate its importance for city residents,” said Nikolai Linchenko.
During the visit to the second stage of the line, the section from the overpass across Vitebsky Prospekt to the final stop “Slavyanka” was inspected; construction and installation work has been virtually completed, and the installation of control systems and landscaping are underway.
The main focus during the inspection was on the progress of work on the overpass crossing the railway tracks of the Vitebsk direction of the Oktyabrskaya Railway and the Children’s Railway.
The length of the overpass is 570 metres, including retaining walls. This structure is on par with the overpasses at the first stage of the route in terms of scale and has engineering features related to the slope and bends, which are determined by the terrain and the transport infrastructure facilities passing under the overpass. Currently, landscaping work is underway here; the construction of the track superstructure and the installation of the contact network are nearing completion.
Based on the inspection results, a high degree of readiness was noted for the bridges over the Kuyminka and Slavyanka rivers – preparations are underway there for laying cast asphalt concrete. The installation of engineering systems and the contact network is nearing completion on the bridge over the Slavyanka River.
On the sections of Podbelskogo Highway, Toropetskaya Street, and Severskaya Street, the construction of the track superstructure exceeds 90%, and the installation of the contact network exceeds 80%. In total, 197 workers and 45 pieces of equipment are participating in the construction work at the second stage.
The launch of the line for the second stage, from the tram depot in the Shushary settlement to the Slavyanka microdistrict, is scheduled for December 2026.

The project to create and operate a tram line along the route “St. m. “Kupchino” — Shushary settlement — Slavyanka” is one of the largest in Russia in terms of building new urban infrastructure for public light rail transport, implemented within the framework of a public‑private partnership.
The concession agreement between the Government of St. Petersburg and LLC “Balt NedvizhService” was signed in 2019 and is valid for 30 years.
The project предусматривает the construction of a tram line with a length of more than 21 km, including three bridges, four overpasses, a tram depot, stop pavilions, and terminal stops that are comfortable for passengers, as well as the purchase of 22 modern low‑floor trams.
The first stage of the tram line, on the section from Balkanskaya Square to the “Valdayskaya Street” stop, and the tram depot with access tracks were put into operation on December 24, 2025.
