Trams of the Chizhik network have run almost 12 million kilometers.

On the eve of the Day of the Automobile and Urban Passenger Transport Worker, the concessionaire of the Chizhik tram network operation project, Transport Concession Company, counted the results of almost eight years of work in the Krasnogvardeysky district of St. Petersburg.
From March 2018 to October 2025, Chizhik high-speed trams carried more than 115 million passengers, running through the Krasnogvardeysky district for almost 12 million kilometers - that's 30 distances from the Earth to the Moon. During this time, trams have completed more than 1.8 million flights.
At the same time, behind such impressive figures is the main result of the operation of the Chizhik tram system - the convenience and safety of St. Petersburg residents. For almost eight years, the company's employees – drivers, supervisors, locksmiths, engineers, dispatchers, IT and other network specialists - have consistently provided passengers with speed and comfort day after day.
The Chizhik tram line is Russia's first PPP project in the field of light rail transport. It was Chizhik that first launched a non-conductive fare payment and introduced a unique automated tram traffic management system.
In October and November, residents of St. Petersburg can take a ride in the unusual Chizhik tram, designed based on the House of Entertaining Science exhibition. The project was implemented by the Transport Concession Company in cooperation with the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theater and Musical Art to support an interactive exhibition at the Sheremetyevo Palace. In the "entertaining" carriage, passengers can scan a QR code and virtually get acquainted with the exhibition materials, as well as perform several exercises from the books of the famous science popularizer Yakov Perelman.
    For reference:
Concession agreement between the Government of Saint Petersburg‑St. Petersburg and the investor signed an agreement on the creation, reconstruction and operation of a tram network in the Krasnogvardeysky district in 2016, two years later passenger transportation began on route No. 8, and in 2019 all four Chizhik routes were launched at full capacity.
In total, during the implementation of the project, the Transport Concession Company reconstructed more than 14 km of tram tracks and a contact network, created 40 stops, three turning rings, equipped five revolving exits, built a high-tech depot, and purchased 23 modern low-floor trams.
