The design documentation of the ITMO Highpark sports complex has been approved

On April 15, 2026, the design documentation of the multifunctional sports complex as part of the ITMO Highpark world-class scientific, educational and innovation center received a positive conclusion from Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
A sports and recreation complex will be built in the northwestern part of the campus. The main entrance to the building will be located on the side of the educational and residential area, and the main venue of the entire complex will be an ice arena with stands for 499 spectators. The dimensions of the 36x65-meter ice arena with a 26x60-meter ice field are designed for hockey and figure skating classes.
According to the project, the sports complex also includes halls for rhythmic gymnastics and choreography with special floor coverings. Conditions for practicing judo, boxing and other types of wrestling will be created in the martial arts hall. Specialized training areas will be set up in the same hall — a wrestling mat, a boxing ring and warm-up areas.
The facility will host inter-faculty and interuniversity level competitions, and the sports complex will also be able to host official city tournaments. Not only students and postgraduates of ITMO University, but also residents of St. Petersburg will be engaged in physical education in the new sports complex.
Earlier, experts from Glavgosexpertiza of Russia approved the construction of research centers on the campus, including for the study and development of information technology, photonics and quantum mechanics, as well as a center for life and health sciences, dormitories and other facilities.
The creation of the ITMO Highpark meets the goals of the priority "Science and New Technologies". 3,600 undergraduates and postgraduates will study at the new ITMO University campus and about 12,000 employees and teachers will work.

    For reference:
The ITMO Highpark project is being implemented in the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg within the framework of the state program "Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation" with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of St. Petersburg.
