The depot of the Slavyanka tram line has been successfully connected to the power supply

Concessionaire of the tram line project along the route Kupchino metro station – Shushary settlement – mkrn. Slavyanka, the BaltNedvizhService company, has completed an important stage: it has ensured the permanent connection of the depot to the city's electricity supply networks. The merger is carried out by PJSC ROSSETI Lenenergo. Electricity was supplied to six traction substations of the first stage of the line. A total of 11 traction substations are provided for the 21 km long line.
The expected energy consumption of the Slavyanka tram line during peak hours after its full commissioning will be 17.5 MW. This capacity can be compared with the capacity of a small city with a population of 10,000 people.
"Now, after the connection, as soon as the tram tracks and the contact cable network are ready, the running-in of individual sections of the line by tram cars will begin," Alexander Beglov noted.
The technical characteristics of the new substations meet all modern safety requirements. All substations are fully automated and do not require the constant presence of personnel. The main feature is the selected equipment with a high energy efficiency class, which is controlled via its own secure digital channel from the dispatch center located in the tram depot building.
Connecting to urban networks is a complex and lengthy process for any newly built facility. For the Slavyanka tram line, this is one of the most important stages of preparation for operation.
It should be recalled that the launch of Slavyanka trams in the first stage, from Kupchino metro station to the depot in Shushary village, is planned to be carried out by the end of 2025. The new line construction project is being implemented as part of one of the 10 priorities for the development of St. Petersburg — "Convenient public transport".
