Roman Golovanov spoke about the launch of the Latitude highway in St. Petersburg

Roman Golovanov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of St. Petersburg, spoke in an interview with Delovoy Petersburg about the city's work on a new large-scale transport project, the Latitudinal Highway (LH).

As regards the first stage of the LH, which is the adjoining of the Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD) to Vitebsky Prospekt, the justifications have already been prepared, preparatory work is underway. A tender for concluding an agreement on other stages within St. Petersburg territory is planned for early 2021.

Roman Golovanov emphasized the continuity of the LH as a modern high-speed highway after the successful experience of St. Petersburg in the WHSD implementation. Nevertheless, work is being done to improve.

"In the first stage of the LH, we lay down those necessary requirements for transport security, which have changed and become more stringent over the past few years. We are also laying the foundation for such innovations as the possibility of switching to seamless collection of fees, – said the Head of the Investment Committee. – The WHSD has set a high standard for road construction. And now we expect that due to the LH, other districts of St. Petersburg will receive their transport dominant with consumer qualities and visual perception."
