The development of large-scale St. Petersburg projects continues with the support of the President.

At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 27, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov spoke about the implementation of key infrastructure projects aimed at developing St. Petersburg as a megacity of the 21st century. Among other things, they discussed achievements in the construction of the Latitudinal High-Speed Highway (LMS), the Slavyanka tram line, the all-season seaside resort St. Petersburg Marina, and the Ostrov Fortov tourist and recreational cluster.
The completion of the first stage of the CMMSD - the opening of traffic along the Vitebsk interchange – has become one of the main events of 2024. A concession agreement has been signed for the next stages, and the volume and sources of financing have been determined. Currently, active work is underway to fulfill the prerequisites for the start of construction of 2-4 stages of the CMMSD. The project documentation is being reviewed by the FAA Glavgosexpertiza of Russia and, after receiving positive conclusions, will be handed over to the concessionaire, who, for his part, is working to identify the available work fronts. After obtaining all the necessary permits to start construction, work will first be carried out on the construction of construction camps, sites for storing materials and driveways for construction equipment. The concessionaire also plans to start building foundations and support bodies for the future overpass, primarily stage 2 in the area of Vitebsk Avenue. As the fronts of work unfold, mobilization is planned along the entire length of the future highway.
The second, third and fourth stages of the CMMSD, including the bridge over the Neva River in the alignment of Ash and Faience Streets, will become part of a system of continuous high-speed highways built bypassing the St. Petersburg road network. Along with the Western High-Speed Diameter and the Ring Road, the SCHMSD will provide a direct link between the eastern and southern parts of the city and bring transit traffic flows out of residential areas. Subsequently, the Latitudinal highway should connect with KAD-2.
The Governor of St. Petersburg emphasized that an extensive transport system is being created in the city, which in the near future will include the Slavyanka tram line, the country's largest concession project in the field of public light rail transport. The new line will increase transport accessibility in the southern regions, improve the quality and convenience of the urban environment for residents, and in the future will become the basis of tram routes to the satellite city of Yuzhny and the Technological Valley under construction.
Currently, work is continuing on the first and second stages of construction within the framework of the Slavyanka project. The main structures of the buildings and structures of the depot complex have been completed. Work is underway to lay the tramway and erect a "tram station" - a covered bus shelter on four platforms with the installation of a special tramway node. At the end of 2025, it is planned to launch the tram in the first stage - from Kupchino metro station to Shushary village.
The momentum of St. Petersburg's development is also linked to the implementation of major investment projects in the tourism sector. One of them, the St. Petersburg Marina resort in Gorskaya, is part of the federal project "Five Seas and Lake Baikal" of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality". The master plan for the development of the Northern Capital has been adjusted to the concept of the Gorskaya project. The construction of the M-32 highway, the first of three highways providing transport accessibility to the future resort, has begun.
Another flagship project, the Island of Forts, has already reached the finish line. In 2025, it is expected to complete the restoration and adaptation to modern use of cultural heritage sites – forts "Alexander the Great", "Peter the Great" and "Kronshlot". It is planned that they will become the most important semantic centers of the unified historical and cultural complex "Island of Forts". At the same time, work is underway on the territory of Kronstadt to modernize and build the street and road network, engineering networks, outdoor lighting, embankments, and the creation of social facilities.
