Slavyanka tram line transported millionth passenger

The millionth passenger traveled along the first stage of the Slavyanka tram line, from Kupchino metro station to the village of Shushary, earlier than expected. The actual passenger traffic on the line has exceeded the forecast figures by 15-20% since its opening, which confirms the high demand for the route among residents of the southern regions.
"In just four months of operation, the Slavyanka tram line transported one millionth passenger, which is the best indicator of the demand for the project among residents of the southern districts of our city. The numbers speak for themselves: people need modern, fast and comfortable transportation. Further development of the project within the framework of one of the ten priorities of urban development "Convenient public transport", the construction of the second stage of the line will allow us to give a new impetus to the development of the Slavyanka microdistrict," said Governor Alexander Beglov.
The first stage, from Kupchino metro station to Valdai Street in Shushary, has 10 km of travel and 5 stops. Trams carry an average of about 19,000 citizens on a weekday and about 8,000 on weekends.
At the second stage, construction work continues from the depot on Novgorodsky Prospekt to Kolpinsky Highway in the Slavyanka district. To date, as part of the second stage, the reconstruction of the Slavyanka and Kuzminka riverbeds has already been completed, two bridges have been erected, two overpasses have been built - through Vitebsk Avenue and through the railway tracks of the Vitebsk direction of the Oktyabrskaya Railway and the Detskaya Railway. An administrative and household pavilion has been built in the Slavyanka microdistrict, five traction substations necessary for the operation of the tram line have been installed.
Currently, contact network supports are installed on the overpasses, the contractor is preparing to start installing lighting poles, and is also preparing the foundation for the construction of the upper structure of the track.
The reconstruction of engineering networks has been completed on a large number of sites. The assembly of the sleeper grating on the Podbelsky highway, Toropetskaya and Severskaya streets is actively underway, as well as work on landscaping the adjacent territories.
The work is proceeding according to schedule, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. More than 45 pieces of equipment and 191 workers are involved in the work.
The investment project for the construction of the Kupchino — Shushary tram line — Slavyanka is being implemented under a concession agreement.
