The construction of the first stage of the Slavyanka tram line has been completed

The construction of the first stage of the tram network along the Kupchino metro station - Shushary – Slavyanka settlement route has been completed, including the creation of a tram line from Balkan Square to Shushary Road and a tram depot with access roads. The permit for the commissioning of the first stage was issued by the State Construction Supervision and Expertise Service of Saint Petersburg‑St. Petersburg on December 8, 2025.
After the final commissioning and individual testing of the complex equipment, the project concessionaire BaltNedvizhService LLC will receive an act of commencement of operation and the right to receive the first passengers.
The length of the route is 4.36 km. The route is assigned No. 2, the tram will pass with stops: Kupchino metro station, Volkovka River (on request), Vilerovsky Lane, Okulovskaya Street, Valdayskaya Street.
A total of 10 trams will be used to organize traffic on the first stage: seven on weekdays, six on weekends, and three in reserve. The estimated travel time from Kupchino metro station to the final stop will be 17 minutes.
The length of the tram network, including the depot, was 16951 meters. A total of 573 contact network poles have been installed on the line and in the depot.
11 buildings and four planar structures with a total area of 13,271 square meters were also put into operation, including a tram depot, an administrative and household building of the final stop on Balkan Square, two checkpoints, an infrastructure services building, six traction substations, a boiler house, a bridge over the Volkovka River, an overpass over the railway tracks of the Vitebsk direction, an overpass over the Moscow Highway., railway tracks of the Southern railway semicircle of the Oktyabrskaya Railway and Ring Road.
It should be noted that the Balkansky terminal is the first and only indoor tram stop in Russia with four platforms, capable of accommodating about 600 people at a time.
It should be recalled that the project to create and operate the Slavyanka tram line is one of the largest in Russia for the construction of a new urban infrastructure for public light rail transport, implemented through a public-private partnership mechanism.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the "Convenient public transport" area of the program "10 priorities of socio-economic development of St. Petersburg".
