Greenhouses of Tavrichesky Garden will be a new public space in St. Petersburg

The Government of St. Petersburg approved a conclusion of the concession agreement with the Gazprom Social Initiatives Fund for the project of reconstruction and operation of the greenhouses of Tavrichesky Garden as a social and cultural facility.

“Reconstruction of the greenhouses of Tavrichesky Garden will become a good example of cooperation of the city and business to transform this area into a new public space,” said Roman Golovanov, Chairman of the Investment Committee. “I would like to note that investors in St. Petersburg are ready to invest their time, energy and money in restoration of historical sites and creation of new cultural-and-leisure public spaces.”

A facility of an area of more than 12 thousand square meters is situated at: Potemkinskaya st., 2, D, Zh, I, and Kirochnaya st., 50, D. A social and cultural facility with three greenhouses, exhibition and concert halls in this area are to be created by an investor for 34 months. The facility will be used to hold cultural events, concerts, stage performances, as well as for arrangement of developmental-and-entertainment classes for children.

According to the concession agreement, at least 60% of the area shall be occupied by greenhouses and leisure facilities. The amount of investments in the project will be at least 700 million roubles. The commissioning date is no later than July 1, 2025.

Earlier, the city government has taken a solution on a possibility of reconstruction of the greenhouses of Tavrichesky Garden by concluding a concession agreement. The Investment Committee of St. Petersburg arranged an open tender for a concession agreement.

The results were summed up in February 2020: the only participant in the competition was the Gazprom Social Initiatives Support Fund that submitted its proposal for concluding the concession agreement.
