Strategic Forum experts evaluated St. Petersburg transport concessions

St. Petersburg Investment Committee introduced in Moscow the transport infrastructure projects implementation experience within the concession mechanism and public-private partnership.

There were introduced unique investment projects in Russian Federation, namely Western High-Speed ​​Diameter and Chizhik tram chain within «City Transport: Private Investors, Smart Technologies, Perspective Directions» expert session of V Strategic Forum «Russian Federation Transport infrastructure».

«St. Petersburg can be called a pioneer in public-private partnership appliance for the large-scale transport projects implementation and the practice shows that transport concessions will soon be highly demanded in multiple Russian Federation regions», Maxim Sharipov, Investment Committee acting deputy chairman said. «Unique experience allows to continue working in our city, initiate and launch new infrastructure projects, such as the Latitudinal Highway and the tram line from Kupchino to Slavyanka».

The session experts were the Russian Federation Transport Ministry’s representatives, Moscow transport hub directorate, Moscow Investment Management Agency and chief commercial and consulting structures as well.

Participants discussed the public-private partnership role in the urban transport development and in the whole strategic planning system of Russian Federation. Besides various transport categories were affected in addition to the first tram concession experience, including cable cars, life cycle contract, electric buses, metro and other urban transport «innovations», implemented on public-private partnership basis. Besides the experts discussed the public transport development comprehensive program formation at WEB.RF initiative for the period until 2025.
