Saint‑St. Petersburg presented its investment potential at the Indonesian-Russian Forum

On April 28, 2026, the Indonesian-Russian Business and Investment Forum was held in St. Petersburg on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation and with the assistance of the St. Petersburg Committee on Foreign Relations. The purpose of the event was to form new areas of cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations that promote mutual investment and industrial potential.
The forum was attended by representatives of government authorities, state-owned companies and business circles of Russia and Indonesia, as well as experts on international cooperation.
Mr. Fayzol Riza, Deputy Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, and Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, delivered welcoming speeches to the participants.
As part of the forum's business program, a panel discussion "Investment Cooperation Opportunities in St. Petersburg" was held, with speakers Mr. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Russia, and Kristina Sergeeva, Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Investment Committee. The session was moderated by Anton Atrashkin, Program Director of the Innoprom International Industrial Exhibition.
As Mr. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares noted, Russia and the Republic of Indonesia are trade and economic partners with positive growth trends in trade turnover. He highly appreciated the prospects for further cooperation between the two countries.
Kristina Sergeeva, on behalf of the Government of St. Petersburg, welcomed the delegates and guests of the forum.
"St. Petersburg is one of the five leading regions in terms of the general state of business activity and ranks third in the national ranking of scientific and technological development of the subjects of the Russian Federation. The volume of investments in the economy of St. Petersburg in 2025 amounted to a record 1734.8 billion rubles. The city implements more than 130 business support measures, including preferential loans and promotion in foreign markets. The main areas of investment attraction include transport, industry, high technology, social infrastructure, tourism, real estate transactions, construction, and trade. These areas reflect the demands of business and the needs of our region in the implementation of strategic development objectives," said Kristina Sergeeva.
She spoke about the investment advantages of St. Petersburg and presented major infrastructure projects supported by the Investment Committee. These include the Western High-Speed Diameter and the Latitudinal High-speed Highway, which are part of the promising transport corridors of the entire North-West of Russia. The Indonesian colleagues also got acquainted with the High-speed railway construction project, which will run through six regions of the country. In addition, projects for the development of St. Petersburg's tourism and sports infrastructure were presented: Pulkovo Airport, the unique Lakhta Center and SKA Arena, and the megaproject of the St. Petersburg Marina all-season resort.
Special emphasis was placed on tools to support investors in St. Petersburg, including through the mechanism of assigning special statuses, such as, for example, "strategic investment project" and public-private partnership. The forum participants received detailed information about the conditions and advantages of implementing investment projects in St. Petersburg.
Much attention was paid to the possibilities of the St. Petersburg Special Economic Zone, where entrepreneurs are offered fully ready-made sites in terms of transport and engineering infrastructure, tax and customs privileges.
Within the framework of the forum, the Russian industrial sector was represented by Rosatom State Corporation and Rusal. Productive B2B meetings were also held, during which Russian companies discussed prospects for cooperation with potential partners from Indonesia.
The forum served as a preparatory event for Indonesia's participation as a partner country of the International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM-2026, which will be held in Yekaterinburg from July 6-9.
