SPIEF-2026: An agreement was signed to attract investments from Severgroup in adapting cultural heritage sites of St. Petersburg for modern use

Today, on June 4, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, an agreement of intent was signed between St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg and Severgroup LLC for the implementation of projects in the field of adaptation of cultural heritage sites for modern use. The document was signed by Governor Alexander Beglov and CEO of Severgroup LLC Alexey Mordashov.
"On the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, at least a thousand cultural heritage sites are to be restored and put into economic circulation in our country by 2030. St. Petersburg is actively contributing to the achievement of this goal. Together with the investor, we plan to implement projects designed to give a second life to ancient buildings and increase the tourist attractiveness of St. Petersburg, which will make a significant contribution to the development of the urban economy," said Alexander Beglov.
"St. Petersburg‑Petersburg is a special city for Severgroup. Our enterprises are located here, thousands of our employees and their families work and live here. It is a great honor and a great responsibility for us to participate in the preservation of the unique cultural heritage of the Northern Capital. We are convinced that respect for history should be combined with modern solutions: ancient buildings can and should live an active life, serve people, and become points of attraction for citizens and tourists. I am sure that the joint efforts with the Government of St. Petersburg‑These projects will not only restore historical sites to their former greatness, but will also give the city new modern impulses for development - in the field of tourism, culture, business and public space, and the economy as a whole," emphasized Alexey Mordashov.
The Governor noted that St. Petersburg is actively developing as a metropolis of the 21st century, remaining faithful to traditions and remaining a treasure trove of architectural masterpieces. The tourist flow to the Northern Capital is growing – almost 12.5 million tourists visited the city last year.
Today, about 9,000 buildings and monuments are under state protection on the banks of the Neva River. The city is actively attracting investors for restoration and adaptation to the modern use of cultural heritage sites. According to the governor, Severgroup's participation in this important work will be a landmark moment for the entire large business in Russia.
The cooperation between the investor and the Government of St. Petersburg within the framework of the letter of intent meets the objectives of one of the ten priorities of the city's development – "Preservation of historical heritage and support for culture."
