WHSD summed up the results of seasonal service of the highway

The Northern Capital Highway LCC reported on the results of the planned repair and maintenance of the WHSD and road structures. So, during the summer season of 2020, the road markings with a total length of 472 km and more than 200 thousand square meters of roadbed were replaced on all three sections of the highway.

To ensure a continuous traffic during road work, the alternating partitioning technology was applied, the total length of the exposed traffic organization chart was almost 250 km.

In the areas of toll points, the road workers laid an innovative crushed stone-mastic asphalt concrete developed according to the American "superpave" technology. Such coverage is necessary in conditions of heavy traffic, a significant percentage of which is freight transport.

Paint coating was restored on almost 7 thousand square meters of steel and reinforced concrete structures of the WHSD, and 377 lamps were replaced on the lighting poles.

In addition to repair and construction work, a general cleaning of the WHSD was carried out in the spring, summer and autumn – the structures, noise screens and architectural elements, signs and boards were thoroughly washed, the drainage and wastewater treatment systems were checked and cleaned, and a large-scale work was carried out on anti-corrosion treatment of metal structures. As part of the WHSD summer cleaning activities, more than 8,000 cubic meters of water and 450 liters of shampoo were required. In total, 1,500 cubic meters of sweat, or about 1,000 tons, were removed from the roadway.

As noted by the Northern Capital Highway LCC, for high-quality service of the highway, the South and North operational bases were created in the immediate vicinity of the WHSD interchanges, allowing timely service of the entire length of the road, as well as a fleet of special equipment numbering more than 120 units of vehicles.

WHSD is a large-scale investment project for the creation of an intracity multi-lane toll highway implemented on the basis of a public-private partnership agreement with the Northern Capital Highway LCC. This is one of the first and most ambitious public-private partnership projects in Russia. The main stage of the highway construction was completed in December 2016. The project was awarded a number of Russian and international prizes.
